KidsTube.com® Privacy Notice*
Note: To make this Privacy Policy easier to read, we have used the term “parent” to refer to the child’s “parent or legal guardian.” When referring to your child, we have used the terms “they”, “them”, and “their”, instead of “he or she”, “him or her”, and “his or her”.
At KidsTube®, we take your child’s privacy very seriously. Our Privacy Policy and procedures conform to the U.S. Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule (COPPA). We collect only information that is necessary for your child to participate in KidsTube’s activities. We retain your child’s personal information for only as long as is reasonably necessary, and we protect your child’s information from unauthorized access or use at all times.
Your Child’s Private Information: What We Collect, How We Collect It, What We Do With It
Email Addresses and Birth Date
When your child registers as a member on KidsTube.com®, they fill out an online form with your email address, their email address, and their birth date. This information is used for internal operations.
- As required by COPPA, we use your email address to notify you when your child provides personal information on KidsTube.com®.
- We may use your child’s email address if it is necessary for the KidsTube.com® Staff to communicate with them about their use of the site, for example for support issues, contests, promotions, or other opportunities on KidsTube.com®.
- We use your child’s birth date to place your child in the appropriate age category for videos and activities on KidsTube.com®.
Image, Voice, and Other Personal Information
- When your child uploads a video or graphic on KidsTube.com®, they fill out a form with a brief description (title, summary and search tags) of their video or graphic. We do not request any personal information from your child in this process. However, your child’s image and/or voice may be on the video, and their image may be on the graphic. Your child may provide personal information in the video, graphic or description, for example they may say their full name on the video, or list their full name in the credits or in the description. Additional personal information may be in your child’s video or graphic, such as their geographic location, school, hobbies, or username on other websites. We may post your child’s video or graphic and its description on KidsTube.com®, and it may be seen by other visitors to the site. If you do not want your child’s video or graphic and its description to be seen by other visitors to the site, you can choose to have it seen only by your child.
- Your child may upload a graphic for their profile picture, for example a photo or a drawing. Your child’s image or other personal information may be on the graphic. We will display the profile picture next to your child’s username on their profile page and next to each post your child makes on KidsTube.com®, for example when they upload a video, post a comment, or send an in-site email. If you do not want your child’s image on their profile picture, they can leave the profile picture blank, or upload a different graphic, such as a cartoon character or toy.
Age 10+: Comments, Blogs, Emails, Chats
If your child is in the 10+ age category, they can interact with other KidsTube.com® members who are in the 10+ age category. We collect your child’s comments, emails, blogs, chats, and any other words they place on the site. This information is collected only from KidsTube.com® members in the 10+ age category, and does not apply to children in the 3+ and 6+ age categories. If you do not want this information collected, you can choose to have your child placed in a different age category.
- Your child can enter comments about videos and graphics uploaded by other members in the 10+ age category. Your child’s comments, username, and profile picture can be seen by visitors to page for that video or graphic.
- Your child can enter comments on their own profile page and on the profile pages of KidsTube.com® members in the 10+ age category who have “friended” them. Your child’s comments, username, and profile picture can be seen by the profile’s owner and his/her KidsTube.com® friends.
- Your child can send email messages within the KidsTube.com® site to other members in the 10+ category. Your child’s message, username, and profile picture can be seen by the recipient.
- KidsTube.com® may provide additional interactive activities for children in the 10+ age group, such as chats or online lounge events. Your child’s comments, username, and profile picture can be seen by the other members who are participating in that activity.
Third Parties
KidsTube.com® may provide information collected from your child to third parties for marketing or research purposes, and to service providers who provide essential services to KidsTube.com®, such as the moderators who review the uploaded videos for age-appropriateness. Third parties must be capable of maintaining the confidentiality, security, and integrity of your child’s information, and must assure that they will do so. You can agree to let KidsTube.com® collect and use your child’s information, without consenting to the disclosure of the information to third parties.
- Marketing: We do not give out your child’s personal information for marketing purposes. Aggregated data in which your child is not personally identifiable may be provided to third parties for marketing purposes. For example, KidsTube.com® may provide the number of members in an age category, but does not give out your child’s birth date or email address.
- Research: KidsTube.com® may participate in research studies, for example a university study of children’s behavior on a video sharing website. The information provided to researchers is limited to what is necessary for the study. For example, a researcher may be permitted to review the videos and comments made by a group of children that may include your child, but the researcher would not have access to your child’s email address or birth date.
Your Rights and Options
You can review the personal information that your child has provided on KidsTube.com®, and you can request that we delete your child’s information. At any time, you may revoke your consent, refuse to allow KidsTube.com® to further use or collect your child’s personal information, and direct KidsTube.com® to delete the information. We will protect your child’s information against unauthorized access or use while it is being disposed of. In turn, we may terminate any service provided to your child that requires that information for participation. For example, without your child’s birth date to place them in the correct age category, we will place them in the most protected age category for video watching and site activities (3+).
- To review the personal information that your child has provided on KidsTube.com®, please contact the KidsTube.com® Site Operators (see contact information below).
- Before allowing you access to a child’s information, we will verify that you are the child’s parent. We may use a variety of methods approved by COPPA to verify your identity, including:
- Receiving a signed parental consent form from you via postal mail or facsimile (FAX);
- Receiving an electronic scan of a signed parental consent form from you via email;
- Receiving an email from you accompanied by your digital signature;
- Receiving a photocopy or electronic scan of your government issued ID;
- Accepting and verifying a credit card number;

- Taking a call from you on a toll-free telephone number;
- Video-conferencing with you;
- Receiving an email from you accompanied by a PIN or password obtained through one of the verification methods above.
- If you do not want your child’s video or graphic and its description to be seen by other visitors to the site, you can choose to have it seen only by your child. Each time your child uploads a video or graphic, they can click the PRIVATE button, which means they will be the only one who can see it. If you want a staff member to show you how to do this, or if you want your child’s previously uploaded videos to be changed from PUBLIC to PRIVATE, please contact the KidsTube Site Operators (see contact information below).
- If you do not want your child’s image on their profile picture, they can leave the profile picture blank, or upload a different graphic, for example a cartoon character or toy. If you want a staff member to show you how to change a previously uploaded graphic, please contact the KidsTube Site Operators (see contact information below).
- If your child is in the 10+ age category and you do not want the information they place on KidsTube to be collected, you can choose to have your child placed in a different age category. Please contact the KidsTube Site Operators (see contact information below).
